Understanding Electric Dirt Bikes
Let’s be real… Electric bike specs can look like math homework.
kW… volts… amp hours… watt hours…
Most people just want to know:
👉 “Is this thing fast?”
👉 “How long will it ride?”
👉 “Will it fit me?”
👉 “Is it like a 65cc or a 125cc?”
So here’s the simple version — rider to rider. No tech talk. No engineering class.
Just what actually matters when you’re picking a bike.

01
🔥 First — Only 4 Things Really Matter
If you ignore everything else, just look at:
✅ Power (kW)
✅ Battery size (Wh)
✅ Seat height
✅ Weight
That’s 90% of how a bike feels.
Everything else is details.
02
⚡ Power (kW) = Engine Size
Think of kW like cc on a gas bike.
More kW =
• faster acceleration
• stronger hills
• higher top speed
• more “pull”
Simple.
QUICK CHEAT SHEET:
• 1–2 kW → 50cc feel
• 3–4 kW → 65–85cc
• 6–8 kW → 85–110cc
• 10–15 kW → 125cc+
• 20kW+ → legit adult power

03
⚡ Rated vs Peak Power (don’t get tricked)
Sometimes you’ll see two numbers like:
3kW rated / 8kW peak
Here’s the deal:
• Rated = what it runs all day
• Peak = short bursts when you hammer the throttle
Think:
Cruising vs turbo.
A lot of brands only advertise the peak number because it looks bigger.
If you see two numbers → they’re being honest.
04
🔋 Battery Size (Wh) = How Long You Ride
This one’s easy.
Think of Wh like your gas tank.
Bigger number = more ride time.
ROUGH IDEA:
• 1000–1500Wh → short sessions
• 2000–3000Wh → solid trail day
• 4000Wh+ → long rides, less charging
If you hate charging… go bigger here.

05

⚡ 🔋 Volts (V) = How Hard It Hits
Voltage affects how strong the power feels.
Higher volts =
• smoother throttle
• stronger torque
• climbs hills easier
• less strain on the motor
TYPICAL:
• 48–60V → beginner bikes
• 72V → real dirt bike feel
• 72V+ → performance machines
Most serious bikes (like the ETM RTR and Antelope) run 72V+ for a reason.
06
🪑 Fit & Feel — Seat Height + Weight
Honestly… this matters more than age or power.
If you can’t touch the ground comfortably, the bike feels heavy, awkward, and sketchy — even if the specs look good on paper.
Seat height = how big the bike feels
General rule of thumb:
• 24–27” → kids
• 28–30” → youth
• 30–32” → teens / smaller adults
• 34”+ → full-size adult bikes
Real examples:
-
RTR Sport — 30.6”
👉 Pit Bike feel, great for teens and adults -
Antelopower — 34.7”
👉 full-size dirt bike fit
That difference alone completely changes confidence.

07
⚖️ Weight = Confidence
Lighter bikes:
• easier to turn
• easier to pick up
• less tiring
• better to learn on
Heavier bikes:
• more stable at speed
• feel planted
• but take more strength
If you’re newer → lighter is always more fun.
✅ Our Simple Advice
(from riding them)
If I’m choosing for someone:
New rider?
👉 smaller + lighter + less power
Trail riding all day?
👉 bigger battery
Want speed and wheelies?
👉 more kW
Want confidence?
👉 lower seat height
When in doubt…
go slightly smaller and lighter.
Fun beats scary every time.
🏍 Easy Gas Bike Comparison
If you grew up on gas bikes, this helps instantly:
• 2kW → 50cc
• 3–5kW → 65–85cc
• 6–8kW → 85–110cc
• 10–15kW → 125cc
• 20kW+ → 200cc+
Now electric numbers make sense, right?
Bottom line
Fit first.
Then weight.
Then power.
When a bike fits right and doesn’t feel heavy, everything else gets easier.
